Kangana Ranaut's directorial debut, Emergency is currently gearing up for its release on September 6, 2024. The official trailer of the film was dropped just thirteen days ago, and has garnered rave reviews on YouTube. However, it seems like the trailer did not impress the Sikh community. Ranaut has received a legal notice claiming to remove the trailer video as a few scenes have hurt their sentiments.

About Kangana Ranaut's legal notice

On August 27, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent a notice to the producers and the director of Emergency. SGPC secretary Pratap Singh expressed his deep objection about the scenes that are shown in the trailer. He also revealed that separate letters have also been made for the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Central Board of Film Certification’s Chairperson to stop the film Emergency’s release.

Petition from the Punjab and Haryana High Court

A petition has also been submitted to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, requesting for FRI to be lodged against the producers of Emergency. The petitioners also allege that the film inaccurately portrays historical events, thereby tarnishing the reputation of the Sikh community and spreading hate. They have urged the court to remove some scenes and prevent potentially harmful things.

About Emergency trailer

The trailer of Kangana Ranaut's film opens with intense scenes, setting the tone for a gripping narrative. We get to see Ranaut portraying the titular role of Indira Gandhi, the first and only female Prime Minister of India. The trailer gives us some glimpses of Indira Gandhi’s life, who is dismissively perceived as a senseless person by her adversaries.

The trailer shows how Gandhi fearlessly navigates the dangerous path of filthy politics, defying expectations. The trailer also shows how the Sikh community demands for ‘Khalistan’, and hence they gather to fight against Kangana, aka Indira Gandhi.

The trailer showcases complexities of Indian politics, its challenges, triumphs and defeats of Indira Gandhi, and her life, which forever changed the course of India’s history.
