Nag Ashwin-directorial Kalki 2898 AD has grossed Rs 1100 crore worldwide, which makes it the highest-grossing Indian film of the year. Starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, Kalki 2898 AD has received both appreciation and criticism from the audience, as well as, some actors. Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi recently made headlines when he commented about Prabhas’ performance in the film, and called him a ‘joker’.

Netizens support Arshad Warsi's comment

Soon after Arshad Warsi's comment went viral, fans were clearly not happy with what he said and the actor received a lot of backlash on social media. However, a few social media users have now come out in support of the Munna Bhai actor.

Kalki 2898 AD was released on Netflix and Prime Video this week and fans have been reacting to the film and actors' performances on social media. Amitabh Bachchan's character received much attention and praise, but fans also criticised Prabhas’ character saying that his role did come across as awkwardly weird with numerous cringe scenes. One of them wrote about Prabhas, “Arshad Warsi's comment is understandable.”

Another fan explained Warsi’s comment by writing that Arshad meant that Prabhas deserves a better character treatment rather than what the writers gave them in Kalki 2898 AD.  Another X (formerly Twitter) user wrote that he felt that the sci-fi film was average. While agreeing with Warsi, he wrote that Prabhas was the biggest disappointment for him.

For the unversed, Arshad Warsi in a recent interview had said that he did not like the film and further commented that Prabhas looked like a 'joker' in Kalki 2898 AD.

Kalki 2898 AD sequel rumours

Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD sequel rumours have been doing the rounds on the internet. An extended part has been shown at the end of the film on the OTT platforms, providing more context on the mythology part, and raising expectations about a sequel. The next installment is expected to effectively resolve the unanswered questions and plot points that are left on a cliffhanger.

Stree 2 beating Kalki 2898 AD

On the 8th day of its release, the horror comedy Stree 2 finally surpassed the Hindi box office collection of Kalki 2898 AD when it earned Rs. 230 crore. Stree 2 has now crossed Rs 290 crore, inching closer to the Rs 300-crore mark.
