It has been reported that Mithun Chakraborty will be conferred this year’s Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The Bengali entertainment industry, along with the entire country, congratulated him. In an interview, Mithun said his behavior changed after getting the national award for his debut film. A producer even kicked him from the set, he recalled.

Mithun received his first National Award for acting after debuting in Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa. In an interview with India Today, Mithun said, “And then became arrogant. I started behaving like Al Pacino and it felt like I was the greatest actor ever. For my arrogance, one producer told me to get out of his set. Then I realized my mistake.”

Mithun said that his film journey was painful. He further added that many people asked him to pen his autobiography. "I don’t write because my story will not inspire people, but rather morally discourage them. It will break the struggling youngsters’ spirits. It is traumatic,” said the actor. He said that he used to sleep on the streets of Mumbai and many times could not procure food.

Mithun also won National awards for his acting in Tahader Katha and Swami Vivekananda. Besides, his Disco Dancer, Agnipath, Jallad, and Dalal are some of his blockbuster works. He became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2014.

This Puja, Mithun’s Shastri will be released. Directed by Pathikrit Basu, he plays a common man who suddenly gets the superpower of predicting the future. The trailer is out. Besides Mithun, the film also features Debashree Roy, Anirban Chakrabarty, Soham Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta, and others.
