Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi's latest film, Dhoom Dhaam, has received a variety of reactions from viewers and critics alike. Interestingly, it was initially meant to feature Katrina Kaif and Fawad Khan. The film's director, Aditya Dhar, revealed this in a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama.

Aditya notes the similarities between the plots of Dhoom Dhaam and Raat Baaki

Aditya was all set to make his big Bollywood debut with a film called Raat Baaki, featuring Katrina and Fawad, and produced by Karan Johar. However, sources in the industry pointed out that Raat Baaki bore a striking similarity to Dhoom Dhaam. When asked if the two films shared the same storyline, Aditya admitted, “That’s correct. It’s the same plot, but we made some adjustments. We updated it to fit modern times.”

Raat Baaki was supposed to start filming in 2016, but following the Pulwama attack, there was a ban on casting actors from across the border in Bollywood projects. There were rumors about replacing Fawad, but in the end, the film was put on hold. Aditya eventually made his directorial debut with Uri – The Surgical Strike in 2019, which turned out to be a surprise hit.

Dhoom Dhaam is a romantic comedy featuring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi in the main roles. Directed by Rishabh Seth and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar through Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the movie follows a newlywed couple who find themselves on the run on their wedding night. It premiered on Netflix and has been well-received by viewers.

Aditya is now working on his upcoming film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The film also features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in key roles. Ranveer announced Dhurandhar in 2024 with a heartfelt post: “This one is for my fans, who have been so patient with me and clamouring for a turn like this… I promise you, this time, a cinematic experience like never before.
