Actor Aditi Rao Hydari has garnered exceptional praise for her role in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, with her distinctive ‘gajagamini’ walk becoming a viral sensation. Despite the acclaim, Aditi disclosed that the attention did not lead to a surge of compelling acting opportunities following the film's release. In a conversation with Farah Khan on her YouTube channel, Aditi mentioned experiencing a ‘drought’ in offers after Heeramandi, prompting her to consider marriage during her downtime.

What Aditi expressed

During their discussion, Farah and Aditi reflected on the influence of Heeramandi. Aditi remarked, “After Heeramandi, the overwhelming response and love made me think there would be a flood of exciting projects, but then suddenly… I found myself wondering, ‘What’s happening?’ It truly felt like a drought!”

Farah appeared taken aback and responded, “Really? That’s why you decided to get married!” Aditi laughed and replied, “Actually! No, seriously, we needed to plan it so we could return from work, get married, and then resume our careers. But the wedding was a lot of fun.”

In September of last year, Aditi married actor Siddharth in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family.

About Heeramandi

Aditi portrayed the character Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi, where she garnered considerable acclaim for her performance in the dance sequence "Saiyaan Hatto Jao." The cast also included notable actors such as Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sharmeen Segal, Fardeen Khan, and Sanjeeda Shaikh in key roles.

The series delved into the cultural landscape of Heeramandi, a vibrant district, through the narratives of courtesans and their clients, all set against the turbulent backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle in the 1940s. It premiered on Netflix on May 1.

Recently, Aditi has signed on for a new project, a romantic drama, alongside Avinash Tiwary. The film, which will also feature Arjun Rampal, is directed by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Netflix.
