Adi Irani, recognized for his roles in films such as Welcome and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, recently made an unexpected disclosure during an interview. The actor disclosed that filmmaker Zoya Akhtar had initially selected him for a role in her film Dil Dhadakne Do. However, he later learned that Akhtar had replaced him in the project featuring Ranveer Singh, without any prior notification. Parmeet Sethi ultimately took over the role in question.

In discussing his replacement from Dil Dhadakne Do, Adi Irani mentioned that he had auditioned twice for the 2015 film, which also starred Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma. The director was pleased with his performances and confirmed him for a significant role, which was later assigned to Parmeet.

Zoya Akhtar reached out to Irani while he was filming Welcome Back. When he informed her that he would be available to meet after completing the shoot, she agreed. However, shortly thereafter, he was replaced by Parmeet in the film.

"I am unsure what transpired—she chose Parmeet Sethi, and I was not notified. I was left in the dark despite having gone through the audition process with Zoya herself. I did not inquire further—it was her decision. While this may not be considered professional, I cannot ascertain what issues she had. It is challenging to inform an actor that they have been removed from a project," he expressed to the entertainment portal.

Adi further commented on the lack of transparency within the film industry, noting that many individuals have adopted a diplomatic approach. Regarding Dil Dhadakne Do, the family comedy-drama featured prominent actors such as Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, and Priyanka Chopra. The film was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner, Excel Entertainment.
