At the trailer launch of Superboys of Malegaon in Mumbai on Wednesday, Adarsh Gourav, who plays Nasir Shaikh, opened up about his journey with the film and his strong bond with the character. He expressed his gratitude for the chance to portray Nasir Bhai, saying, “It’s truly an honor to take on the role of Nasir Bhai. I feel lucky to have met him, spent time with him, and learned so much about his life. Before we kicked off filming, we hung out in Malegaon, sharing stories. I got to know about his life, and I met his friends and family.”

Nasir Shaikh has been a significant figure in Malegaon for the past 20-25 years, and Adarsh feels honored to bring his story to the big screen. “Nasir Bhai has built a legacy that people in Malegaon still look up to today. I’m really grateful for this role, and I want to thank Reema, Zoya, Ritesh, Farhan, and Varun for this chance,” he added.

When asked about the pressure of audience expectations for a theatrical release, Adarsh admitted to feeling nervous, but for a different reason. “Yeah, I’m nervous, but not because there’s a lot of pressure for this film to be a huge hit. It’s because watching it in a theater with a crowd feels so different from streaming it at home. It’s been 8-9 years since I had a film in theaters... The last one was Rukh back in 2017. This feeling is new for me, and I hope I can navigate through it.”

Adarsh shared his thoughts on the differences between theatrical and OTT releases, saying he doesn’t really get caught up in the platform. “I don’t differentiate between theatrical and OTT. I just go with whatever comes my way. The key is that the story has to be engaging. We spend months getting to know the character, so the process feels the same. Whether it’s for OTT or in theaters, the effort is consistent. I really appreciate the people I collaborate with—my writers, director, and fellow actors—that’s what makes it all special.”

'Superboys of Malegaon,' directed by Reema Kagti, is set to release in theaters on February 28, 2025.
