For the last time, any and every news article that you have encountered regarding me and any bank loan — ₹18 crore, ₹1. 5 crore or any other crore — is all FAKE NEWS. Hope that removes any uncertainty in your mind. How the media got it wrong, I cannot say, but I’m certain there’s more to it than just misreporting. ”

In February, while sharing a report that also included Preity's picture, Congress Kerala tweeted, "She handed her social media accounts to BJP and had ₹18 crore waived off, and the bank went under last week. Depositors are out on the streets seeking their money. " In reply, Preity labeled it "nasty gossip" and posted on X, "No, I manage my social media accounts on my own, and shame on you for spreading FAKE NEWS! She continued, "I’m appalled that a political party or their representative is spreading false information and engaging in nasty gossip and clickbait by using my name and images. Preity Zinta's upcoming film
