Actress Lakshmi Manchu Calls Out IndiGo Airlines for Alleged Harassment During Security Check

Actor Lakshmi Manchu criticized IndiGo Airlines on Monday for what she described as 'harassment' during the security check. In a series of tweets, she accused the staff of being 'rude' during the bag check and claimed that one of her co-passengers was forced to leave her bag behind due to a delay in the process.
Lakshmi Manchu shares her experience
Lakshmi’s first tweet described how airport staff pulled her bag aside during the security check and refused to let her open it to show the contents, insisting that they would handle it. She wrote, “My bag was pulled aside by @IndiGo6E, and they wouldn’t let me open it. They insisted on doing it themselves, or else my bag would be left in Goa. Someone help!!! Flt 6e585… this is ridiculous, and the staff is being extremely rude.”
She then added that, despite her request, they did not put a security tag on the bag in her presence. “This is harassment @IndiGo6E. After all that, they didn’t even put a security tag in front of me. Despite insisting they would take responsibility if anything was missing, I doubt Indigo will. How is it even possible to run an airline like this?” she asked, urging the airline to take responsibility if anything went missing from her bag.
In her final tweet, Lakshmi alleged that passengers were being pulled aside for items like cutlery and sleep apnea machines, and one co-passenger had to leave her luggage behind because it wasn't checked on time. She wrote, “They pulled people aside for sleep apnea machines! Spoon, fork, and knife cutlery! One girl had to leave her luggage because they couldn’t go through her bag in time!!!!!! Ok, I’m done! @IndiGo6E loves making you feel violated…”
When a person commented under her post, asking her to choose a different airline, she replied, “What to do they have the best timings!”
IndiGo responds to Lakshmi’s complaint
The airline responded to Lakshmi’s post, explaining that her bag was pulled aside during the check due to prohibited items. They wrote, “Ma’am, we understand the inconvenience you experienced this morning. According to our records, your checked-in bag was detained by airport security, and deployed by the airport operator, due to strict regulations regarding prohibited items in check-in luggage.” They also thanked her for cooperating with their team and security personnel to ensure the baggage was cleared for check-in.
Lakshmi was last seen in the Disney+ Hotstar web series Yakshini, and she will soon star in Adiparvam.
