Veteran Telugu actor Mohan Babu has addressed the reports regarding the rejection of his anticipatory bail plea in connection with the alleged assault of a journalist. On Saturday, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify the situation, labeling the circulating rumors as "false propaganda."

Mohan Babu refutes bail rejection claims

In his tweet, Mohan Babu stated, “False propaganda is being circulated! Anticipatory bail has NOT been rejected, and I am currently receiving medical care at home. I urge the media to verify the facts.”

Telangana High Court reportedly denies bail

According to a report by the New Indian Express, the Telangana High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea on Friday. The court also issued notices to the Telangana authorities and others involved, instructing them to submit their responses by Thursday (December 19).

An FIR was filed against the actor at the Pahadishareef Police Station on Tuesday (December 10), the day the incident allegedly occurred. It has been reported that the FIR was amended on Thursday (December 12) to include section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Mohan Babu issues apology following alleged assault

On Friday, Mohan Babu extended an apology on X for the alleged assault on the journalist at his residence in Jalpalli, Rangareddy district, on the evening of December 10. He expressed his "deep regret" regarding the incident, characterizing it as an impulsive reaction during a moment of heightened tension when approximately 30-50 individuals reportedly intruded into his home with harmful intentions.

Details of the incident on December 10

The police FIR indicates that the journalist filed a formal complaint at 10:55 PM on the same day following the alleged assault. The journalist had come to Mohan Babu's residence to report on a family dispute that had attracted considerable media attention.

The complainant reported that he and several other journalists were granted access to Manchu Manoj's residence at 8:05 PM to cover the escalating conflict between the father and son. However, while they were reporting, Mohan Babu purportedly confronted the journalist in an aggressive manner.

The actor is alleged to have forcibly seized the reporter's microphone and phone, employed abusive language, and physically assaulted him with the microphone, which was reportedly equipped with a steel pipe and a metal logo. This attack is claimed to have inflicted a serious head injury on the journalist, leading to considerable bleeding.
