Abhishek Bachchan has marked 25 years since his on-screen debut in the 2000 film Refugee, directed by JP Dutta, which also served as Kareena Kapoor's first appearance in cinema. In a conversation with CNBC, the actor discussed whether he perceives himself to be at the 'interval or climax' of his career and shared his aspirations for the future.

Abhishek Bachchan reflects on his career

When Abhishek was inquired whether he would characterize this phase of his career as the 'interval or climax,' he responded, "At this moment, I believe 'interval' is the appropriate term. I have been in this profession for 25 years, and I am no longer in my youth. However, I sense that a new chapter is on the horizon. The year 2025 feels significant, almost like a midpoint."

The actor further elaborated on his spiritual beliefs, indicating that he identifies more as a spiritual person than a religious one. He emphasized the paramount importance of his family in his life, stating, "I am who I am today due to my family. Everything I do is for them—past, present, and future. Their opinions hold the utmost significance for me. I take great pride in my name, which was given to me by my grandfather, but I take even greater pride in the surname he passed down to us. I am committed to ensuring that the love we receive, which is a legacy of my grandfather, continues. I hope that my daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, and future generations will honour that legacy and share the same values."

Abhishek Bachchan’s career

Abhishek received the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance in Refugee; however, the film struggled at the box office, facing tough competition from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel. His career experienced a resurgence following his role as a gangster in Mani Ratnam's 2004 film Yuva. Most recently, he appeared in the 2024 film I Want to Talk and is set to star in Housefull 5 and Be Happy in the near future.
