Abhishek Bachchan is once again embodying the role of a father on screen. In his upcoming film, Be Happy, he portrays the father of a girl with a passion for dance, played by Inaayat Verma. As the release date approaches, the actor engages in a conversation with HT to discuss the film and the similarities it shares with real life.
Abhishek Bachchan on Be Happy
Be Happy, a film directed by Remo D'Souza, narrates the journey of a father who, albeit reluctantly, learns to dance in order to support his daughter's aspirations. He expresses gratitude that his own daughter has never placed him in such a predicament. "I have never encountered a situation where I needed to step outside my comfort zone. There has been nothing that made me feel, 'This is something I am not at ease with, but I must do it for my child.' Fortunately, I have not faced that scenario," he remarks.
Abhishek emphasizes that he relied entirely on the script to accurately portray his character and his relationship with his daughter. "The emotions are universal; however, it is essential to grasp the character's environment and mindset. The beautifully crafted script significantly aids in this understanding."
Abhishek Bachchan on stardom outside vs at home
The trailer for Be Happy highlights a playful dynamic between the characters portrayed by Abhishek and Inaayat, where the young girl perceives her father as anything but impressive. When asked if this reflects his real-life experience, Abhishek humorously responds, referencing his daughter Aaradhya, "I have a 13-year-old, so you know." He elaborates, "What is both pleasant and refreshing is that at home, you are simply a parent. Whether you are a professional or a celebrity, your primary role is that of a parent. I do not view this as a reality check, but rather as something positive, as the affection stems from a sincere place, rather than from your public persona."
Abhishek notes that the Bachchan family has upheld this 'tradition' across generations. "I have experienced the same with my father. At home, he was always just dad, not Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. That distinction existed outside our home. It is a wonderful aspect that helps maintain one's sanity," he remarks.
Be Happy also features Nora Fatehi and Nassar and is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 14.
