The prestigious 70th National Film Awards were unveiled today (August 16). With films from young directors getting the credit and recognition they deserve, Malayalis should be proud. One of them is Aattam, directed by Anand Ekarshi, which took home the 70th National Film Award for Best Feature Film. The movie was acclaimed for surprising audiences in a number of ways following its theatrical premiere, including its captivating story and the actors' outstanding performances.

The original score and soundtrack for the film were composed by Basil C J.

Not the first recognition for Aattam

Letterboxd's ranking of the top 25 highest-rated feature films as of June 30, 2024 featured five Malayalam films. Aavesham, Bramayugam, Manjummel Boys, and other films are included in the list, with Aattam coming in at number ten. The Vinay Forrt-starrer recently won another award on the global level. The compelling drama won the Fipresci-India Grand Prix for best 2023 Indian film after making its theatrical debut in January. Ahead of its theatrical release, it had screened at several film festivals across the nation and garnered a tonne of positive reviews from viewers.
