Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and his spouse, Aarti Ahlawat, are reportedly on the verge of concluding their 20-year marriage, as indicated by a report from HT City. The couple, who have been friends since childhood and married in 2004, is said to have been "living separately for several months," with divorce appearing imminent, according to the report.

The noticeable rift between Sehwag and Aarti became apparent when they began to limit their joint appearances in public and on social media. Sehwag, who has typically been candid about his family life, shared images with his elder son, Aryaveer, and his mother, Krishna, during last year's Diwali festivities, but notably excluded any references or photographs of Aarti and their younger son, Vedant. This omission has intensified speculation regarding their potential separation.

Additionally, Sehwag has unfollowed Aarti on Instagram. In response to the swirling rumours and reports concerning their divorce, Aarti, who boasts 178,000 followers and a verified account on the platform, has made her profile private.

Virender Sehwag has not yet deleted any photographs featuring his wife, but the last image he posted with Aarti on Instagram dates back to April 2023. Additionally, he did not make any public acknowledgement of their 20th wedding anniversary on April 22, 2024.

The romance between Virender Sehwag and Aarti Ahlawat began in the 1980s, initiated through familial ties—Sehwag’s cousin was married to Aarti’s aunt. At that time, Sehwag was seven years old, while Aarti was five. Their friendship blossomed over the years, and as they matured, Sehwag developed romantic feelings for Aarti. He proposed to her at the age of 21, and she accepted. Their love story culminated in a lavish wedding on April 22, 2004, which took place at the residence of former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Aarti, born on December 16, 1980, in New Delhi, has maintained a relatively private life. She completed her schooling at Lady Irwin Secondary School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, later obtaining a diploma in Computer Science from Maitreyi College, Delhi University. Although she has kept a low public profile, she has been a steadfast supporter of Sehwag throughout his cricketing journey.

Since retiring from international cricket in 2015, Virender Sehwag has taken on various roles, including a position on the Anti-Doping Appeal Panel of the National Anti-Doping Agency. Despite their previously strong relationship, recent indications suggest that the couple may be experiencing difficulties. However, neither Sehwag nor Aarti has publicly confirmed any separation, leaving their personal lives open to speculation.
