While many raised concerns regarding the alleged film, some highlighted that the channel was not official and that the teaser appeared to be generated by AI.

Now, the actor himself has resolved the confusion and brought the controversy to a close. An official statement from the actor's spokesperson reads, "The poster depicting Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak is entirely fabricated and generated by AI. Aamir Khan has no association with any such endeavor. He has the utmost respect for Guru Nanak and would never partake in anything disrespectful. Please do not succumb to false information. "

What's the deal with the fake Guru Nanak teaser?

An AI-generated fake teaser features Aamir dressed as a Sikh spiritual leader. It falsely claims that T-Series is funding the film, despite the original channel having no official ties to T-Series. This teaser has gone viral on social media.

The teaser stirred up some drama when a BJP leader in Punjab claimed it was a calculated move to provoke the Sikh community by casting a Muslim actor as the Sikh guru. Dainik Bhaskar reported that BJP Punjab spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal has lodged a complaint with SGPC and is also calling on the Punjab Police, Cyber Cell, and security agencies to track down the IP addresses of those responsible and make quick arrests.

Aamir Khan's next project

Aamir was last seen in 2022's Laal Singh Chaddha, where he shared the screen with Kareena Kapoor. This film, which is the official remake of the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump, didn't do well at the box office. However, he's making a comeback this year in Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual follow-up to his 2008 success, Taare Zameen Par. Although a specific release date hasn't been revealed yet, it's expected to hit theaters sometime this year and will also feature Genelia D'Souza.
