The actor has discussed it several times throughout the years, frequently outlining how he would approach the project. Nonetheless, the films have yet to enter pre-production. However, that situation might be about to change. In a recent conversation, Aamir suggested that the development of the film's script could commence this year.

 In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir was questioned about his aspirations for 2025, and the actor replied, "My ambition is to keep sharing stories that resonate with our emotions. The other ambition I possess, on which I plan to begin work this year, is focusing on the Mahabharat. That’s one of my largest ambitions. Fingers crossed, I am looking to start this year. It will require some time because the writing process alone will take several years. "

Mahabharat's Lord of the Rings connection

Aamir said that he will be involved with the project as a producer, but did not confirm whether he would also act in it. When questioned if he would direct the film, he disclosed that he was intending to turn it into a series of three or more films. “You can’t narrate the Mahabharat in a single film. Therefore, I am considering multiple films and we may require several directors if we need to schedule it within a specific timeline. If we create it sequentially, it will take a considerable amount of time. Similar to how they approached Lord of the Rings, where they filmed all three installments simultaneously. (We’ll do) something along those lines? ”

It is noteworthy that despite all three installments of the Lord of the Rings trilogy being filmed together, they were all directed by the same person - Peter Jackson. The trilogy is widely recognized as one of the landmark achievements in fantasy cinema, and earned $2. 9 billion globally, in addition to receiving 17 Oscars.

Aamir's upcoming work

Aamir Khan will next appear in Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual follow-up to his 2008 movie, Taare Zameen Par.
