PVR INOX is throwing a festival called Aamir Khan: Cinema Ka Jadugar to honor the incredible impact Aamir Khan has had on Indian cinema. Kicking off on March 14, which is Aamir's birthday, and running until March 27, the festival will feature some of his most memorable films in theaters all over the country.

In a chat with Javed Akhtar, Aamir opened up about what influences his film choices. He pointed out three key factors that guide his decisions, all rooted in his vast experience in the industry.

First off, Aamir stressed how crucial the story, script, and screenplay are. He mentioned, “The story has to be something that I like, something that speaks to me.” For him, the narrative is the backbone of any film. If the story doesn’t connect with him, he won’t even consider the project, regardless of how talented the director or crew might be.

Next, he talked about the director. Aamir said, “The director has to be someone whose work I believe in, someone who has the capability to translate the story into something special.” He feels that a great director can really enhance a film and make a big difference in how the story unfolds on screen.

But it’s not just about the script or the director for Aamir; he also values the producer highly. He explained, “If the producer is weak, no matter how good the film is, it will not get the right release or promotion.” His early experiences taught him that even the best films can struggle if they don’t have a strong producer backing them.

Aamir added, “I don’t see success, I see the ability of the person. Success is often determined by many factors. It’s not only the script; the director has to be good, and the producer must be strong too.”
