Although the performances garnered significant acclaim, the film struggled to achieve commercial success. It only began to receive appreciation after its release on Netflix. Viewers expressed admiration for the innocence and charming chemistry displayed by Aamir and Kareena throughout the film. Recently, Kareena participated in a roundtable discussion with The Hollywood Reporter India, where she shared insights on how deeply Aamir was impacted by the film's lacklustre performance at the box office.

Kareena participated in a roundtable discussion alongside fellow actors Vicky Kaushal, Shabana Azmi, Rajkummar Rao, Pratik Gandhi, Kani Kusruti, and Anna Ben. During the dialogue, the host referenced her previous remark about reaching out to Aamir and Advait following the film's disappointing performance, emphasizing that she does not evaluate her friendships or relationships based on box office results. Bebo, who portrayed Rupa in Laal Singh Chaddha, expressed her immense pride in the film's creation, describing it as a 'beautiful, honest' work. She also praised Aamir, referring to him as a 'stalwart and legend.'
Kareena further disclosed that Aamir was deeply affected by the film's lack of success. She recounted, "He met me somewhere and said, 'Our film didn’t do well, will you still talk to me?'" The actress conveyed her appreciation, stating, "I am most proud that you entrusted me with the role of Rupa, as I believe what Rupa has brought to my life surpasses what a Singham (Again) could offer."
Shabana Azmi further requested her to provide additional details on the matter. The actress, known for her role in Chameli, expressed her admiration for the character Rupa, which she felt was exquisitely crafted by Advait, and she thoroughly enjoyed portraying it. She emphasized, "Our intention in making that film was not to achieve a box office figure of Rs 500 crore. It was created with genuine passion, and everyone contributed their utmost effort." Kareena Kapoor also reminisced about her pregnancy with Jeh occurring during the filming. By the time 60% of the shoot was completed, a nervous Kareena disclosed her pregnancy to Aamir. Interestingly, Mr. Perfectionist responded with joy for her and Saif Ali Khan, offering his full support at that time. Bebo recounted Aamir's words: "I’m happy for you. We’ll wait for you, and we’ll finish the movie together. It made me realize that there are individuals who genuinely appreciate you and support your choices."
