In recent years, there have been a multitude of rumors and speculations, with some gaining more prominence than others. While certain films have successfully entered production, others have languished in development limbo, and some rumors may have been unfounded. One notable project that has remained shrouded in uncertainty is the ambitious film Mahabharat, which was envisioned as a landmark production within the Indian film industry. Historically, there were claims that Aamir Khan had long desired to create this film and was poised to portray Lord Krishna. In a 2019 interview, he expressed his aspiration to take on the role of Krishna, although he did not provide any confirmation regarding Mahabharat specifically. Recently, he has addressed the topic again, indicating that he remains enthusiastic about bringing the film to fruition.

Aamir Khan on Mahabharat

For those who may not have been following mainstream news, there have been longstanding speculations regarding Aamir Khan's ambition to produce a grand adaptation of the Mahabharat. Over the years, various prominent figures, such as Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, have been linked to this project; however, these associations have not materialized into reality. Recently, during the ABP Network’s Ideas of India 2025 event, Aamir Khan expressed that he continues to aspire to bring this film to life and is particularly interested in developing content aimed at children.

"It is my dream to make Mahabharat, so maybe now I’ll be able to think about that dream. Let’s see if I’ll have a role in it to play. What excites me is children’s content. I believe that in India, we create very little children-centric content. Usually, we import it from abroad, dub it here, and release it. I want to create original stories for children," Khan stated.

Aamir Khan also expressed his desire to cultivate emerging talent and provide them with opportunities through his production endeavors during the same discussion. He remarked, "As an actor, I prefer to work on one film at a time, and I find satisfaction in that. Nevertheless, I am now aiming to produce a greater number of films. With my 60th birthday approaching next month, I aspire to engage in more projects over the next 10 to 15 years and facilitate opportunities for new talent."

He expressed his desire to create innovative narratives and establish a platform for talent nationwide, stating his intention to invigorate his production company. Furthermore, he highlighted the necessity of acknowledging writers, asserting that, "As creative individuals, we must place greater importance on writers. This is an aspect I aim to transform within the industry. Writers deserve to be appreciated not just in terms of recognition, but also regarding their time and financial compensation."
