Aamir Khan recently shared some personal insights about his battle with unhealthy habits. In a recent chat, he talked about a side of himself that not many know, admitting that he used to have a problem with drinking too much. He was pretty honest about a time in his life when he would frequently drink all night long.
Aamir Khan opens up
Aamir opened up during a chat with actor Nana Patekar, which was posted on Zee Music Company’s YouTube channel.
In their honest discussion, he revealed that although he has stopped drinking, he still enjoys smoking a pipe. Aamir admitted he has several bad habits and mentioned that his biggest challenge in life is staying disciplined.
When Aamir described himself as indisciplined, Nana asked if he manages to arrive on time for shoots. Aamir replied, “Absolutely. I’m always punctual for my films, but in my personal life, I struggle with discipline.”
Nana then probed Aamir about his “bad habits.” Aamir responded, “I smoke a pipe. I’ve quit drinking now, but there was a time when I would drink all night. I tend to go to extremes, so I stick to what I’m doing. I know it’s not great, and I recognize it’s wrong, but I find it hard to stop.”
Aamir emphasized that he doesn’t have these issues when he’s working on a film, calling himself “sharply disciplined.” Nana suggested that Aamir should keep working consistently.
Aamir agreed and mentioned he’s considering doing one film a year now, saying, “Otherwise, I end up making a film every three years.”
Aamir's next project
Aamir's got some exciting projects lined up! He'll be starring in Sitaare Zameen Par, which was announced back in October 2023. This film features Aamir alongside Darsheel Safary and Genelia Deshmukh in the main roles. It's a sequel to the beloved 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par, and RS Prasanna is at the helm, drawing inspiration from the 2018 Spanish film Champions.
On top of that, Aamir is producing Lahore 1947, featuring Sunny Deol, and another film called Ek Din, which stars his son Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi. Earlier this year, he was also pushing for his production Laapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, to get an Oscar nod. Unfortunately, it didn’t make the shortlist for the 2025 Oscars, even though it was India's official entry.
