Aamir Khan Productions took to their official Instagram Story and shared a gratitude note after Kiran Rao's directorial Laapataa Ladies became India's official entry for the 97th Academy Awards,
The post read, "Heartfelt thanks to the Film Federation of India selection committee for choosing our film Laapataa Ladies to represent India at the Oscars! We are immensely grateful to our audiences, the media, and the film fraternity for their overwhelming love and support for Laapataa Ladies."

Kiran Rao feels honored
Reacting to the big news, Kiran Rao shared in a statement that she is deeply honored and delighted that her film has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards.
"This recognition is a testament to the tireless work of my entire team, whose dedication and passion brought this story to life. Cinema has always been a powerful medium to connect hearts, transcend boundaries, and ignite meaningful conversations. I hope that this film will resonate with audiences across the world, just as it has in India," Rao added.
The filmmaker also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the selection committee and to everyone who believed in this film.

Meanwhile, the 13-member select committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua decided on Laapataa Ladies for reckoning in the best international film category at the Academy Awards.

Rao shared, “No, we will definitely work together in the future. I don’t know in what capacity because I enjoy working with him, you know, he was the producer on this. Aamir found the script. So I’m always keen to work with him again.”
