Actor Aamir Khan has declared that he has ceased smoking following years of significant use. During the trailer launch of his son Junaid Khan's film Loveyapa in Mumbai on Friday, Aamir shared his journey of overcoming his smoking addiction.

Aamir warns people against smoking

I have quit smoking, although it is an activity I have greatly enjoyed for many years. To be honest, I cannot deny this fact. After years of smoking cigarettes, I have now transitioned to using a pipe. Tobacco has been a source of pleasure for me, despite its known health risks. It is something that should be avoided by everyone, he expressed.

Aamir on why he quit smoking

I am pleased to express that I have successfully overcome this detrimental habit, and I urge all those who are listening or observing to consider doing the same. This is not a beneficial practice, and it should be avoided. For me, this decision came at an opportune moment, particularly as my son's career is beginning. I made a heartfelt commitment to myself. I am determined to quit, regardless of the outcome of my son's upcoming film; I am taking this step independently. As a father, I felt it was important to make this sacrifice. I hope that it resonates positively in the universe. I encourage everyone to pray and wish for success in this endeavour.

Junaid made his screen debut last year with the Netflix India film Maharaj, and he is set to make his theatrical debut with Loveyapa, which is scheduled for release on February 7. This film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions. In the meantime, Aamir Khan will next appear in Sitaare Zameen Par.
