Loveyapa features Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor in a narrative centered on their desire to marry. This Gen Z romance takes an unforeseen twist when the bride's father imposes a challenge, requiring the couple to exchange their mobile phones for a full day. The film premiered in theaters on February 7 but has struggled to achieve commercial success. In light of this, Junaid's father, Aamir Khan, expressed his concerns regarding the film's lackluster performance, revealing that he feels more anxious about its reception than Junaid does.
Aamir Khan on Loveyapa box office collection
In an interview with ABP News, Aamir Khan addressed the box office disappointment of Loveyapa, emphasizing that both success and failure are inherent aspects of the film industry. He underscored the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, even when outcomes do not align with expectations.
Aamir also expressed his feelings of anxiety regarding the release of his son's film. He remarked, "As a father, my stress levels were significantly heightened concerning my son's film. In the two weeks leading up to its release, I found myself questioning, ‘Why am I feeling this way about the film? It is not my project—I have neither acted in it, produced it, nor directed it.’ Yet, I still felt a sense of unease."
Aamir Khan praises Junaid Khan's performance
He commended the performances of Loveyapa and Junaid. Aamir expressed that this sentiment stemmed from a father's emotions.
"I find it difficult to articulate. Junaid will develop and acquire knowledge," he remarked. Additionally, Aamir stated that he is presently collaborating with Junaid on a romantic film, which is expected to be released later this year, either in November or December.
Junaid Khan on his Loveyapa character
In a recent interview with SCREEN, Junaid Khan expressed his initial reservations about taking on the lead role in Loveyapa, citing significant differences between his own personality and that of the character. He indicated that, given the choice, he would not have selected himself for the lead role in the film.
Junaid remarked, “I was somewhat taken aback that they wanted me, as I believed my personality was quite distant from that of the character. I inquired whether they were certain about my suitability for the role. Personally, I would not have cast myself in this part, but Advait (Chandan) and Madhu (Mantena) sir appeared to have strong confidence in my ability.”
