Actor Aamir Khan left fans thrilled when he disclosed, on his birthday, that a continuation of Andaz Apna Apna with Salman Khan is under development. However, in a recent conversation with Lehren Retro, the children of the late producer Vinay Kumar Sinha (who produced the original film)—Priti Sinha, Amod Sinha, and Namrata Sinha—shared that Rajkumar Santoshi has been discussing writing the script for a considerable time, yet it has not been produced. They also affirmed that they have not granted any rights to Aamir or the director.

Producer’s children talk about Andaz Apna Apna sequel

When questioned if Rajkumar Santoshi or Aamir Khan had any involvement in the film, Vinay Kumar Sinha’s children refuted this and stated that their father was the sole producer of the project. They added, “Aamir was never a producer (of the film), he was just an actor. We will never sell the rights to him or Rajkumar Santoshi. Yes, Aamir mentioned that Rajkumar Santoshi is crafting Andaz Apna Apna 2, and we are very eager about it. However, I must express that during our father’s lifetime, for an extended period, Raj ji and Dad frequently met to discuss a sequel. A deal was on the verge of being made. It continued for a long while that it was being written. Raj ji kept insisting he was working on the sequel, but it never materialized. Now, only he can explain why it didn’t happen during my dad’s life. Everything was arranged – that the sequel would be created, we’d produce it, and Rajkumar Santoshi would direct it. ”

When asked if they would choose Rajkumar Santoshi as the director for the sequel, Priti, the late producer’s daughter, responded, “We are uncertain. We haven’t made a decision yet. Anyone can claim they are writing the film. But if the producers do not announce the movie, then it is merely talk. ” They further expressed hope that should Aamir and Rajkumar intend to create a sequel, they would be the producers, as the filmmaker had assured the late producer that he would pursue the project with his children in the future.

The producer’s children mentioned that Salman Khan suggested they re-release Andaz Apna Apna while he was filming Ready. They also highlighted how Paresh Rawal recommended promoting the re-release on social media. While Aamir and Salman assisted them in promotions, they indicated that Rajkumar Santoshi has been occupied with Lahore 1947 and thus did not take part in the promotional efforts.

When Aamir revealed Andaz Apna Apna sequel is in the making

For those who are not aware, Aamir confirmed that a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna is currently being developed and stated to the press, “We would all desire Andaz Apna Apna 2. We have requested Raj ji (director Rajkumar Santoshi) to create the script. Once his script is completed, Salman and I would surely like to collaborate on it. I believe the audience would be eager to see Andaz Apna Apna 2… Raj ji is in the process of writing the script. ”

Andaz Apna Apna re-release

The comedic film starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal (playing a dual role), and Shakti Kapoor centers around the tale of two fortune seekers who try to charm an heiress to gain access to her father's riches. They soon discover that the heiress has exchanged her identity with her secretary. At that stage, one of them has genuinely fallen for the heiress, while the other gold digger is in love with the secretary. The film has achieved cult status over the years and has now been re-released in theaters today (25 April).
