Aamir Khan is often referred to as the perfectionist of Bollywood. The actor, who recently appeared in Laal Singh Chaddha, has shared insights regarding his choice to step back from the Hindi film industry. The lockdown imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Aamir to reassess his priorities. He contemplated leaving the industry to dedicate more time to his family. However, it was the encouragement from his family that led him to reconsider this decision. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Aamir reflected on the factors that influenced his thoughts about departing from the film industry.
Why Aamir Khan Considered Leaving Films: Insights into His Emotional Decision
In his conversation with THR India, Aamir Khan mentioned that during the COVID-19 lockdown, he found himself alone at home. This solitude made him realize the insufficient time he had spent with his family. "I thought that perhaps Laal Singh Chaddha would be my final film because I wanted to be with my family and truly make up for lost time," Aamir stated.
The actor from Laal Singh Chaddha expressed that he did not publicly disclose his decision to leave Bollywood, considering it a significant declaration. "However, I did communicate my desire to step back from films and spend more time with my children, mother, and siblings—those I hold dear—to my family," he stated.
Aamir's family, on the other hand, did not respond positively to his choice. "For about six to eight months, the people I cherished began to feel somewhat suffocated," Aamir revealed. Eventually, his children, Junaid and Ira, assisted him in finding a compromise that allowed him to balance his personal life with his professional commitments.
For the past three years, Aamir has been striving to maintain this balance. "I aim to work until 6 PM, after which I dedicate my time to my family. In fact, I have never been this engaged in work; I have largely ceased working after 6," Khan shared.
Aamir Khan's upcoming film
