Kabir Duhan Singh is no stranger to Kannada audiences. The Mumbai-based model-actor has been a part of films like Hebbuli, Pailwaan, and Kabzaa, and while it’s been a while since he was seen in Sandalwood, his next release will have a Kannada version as well. Kabir, who debuted in Malayalam cinema with Turbo, is gearing up for his second this year with A.R.M – Ajayante Randam Moshanam – in which he is pitted against Tovino Thomas.

The film, an Onam release, will be in theatres on September 12, ahead of which, Kabir had joined the team on a promotional trip to Bengaluru. Talking about his character to National TV, Kabir said, “A.R.M is my first film with Tovino. I play a brutal pirate, Pulimutt Mammadh, in the film, a completely unhinged, almost psychopathic character. While working with Tovino, he would ask me how I was looking to approach the role, which, not only allowed me to experiment with the character but also feed off his energy and come up with a better performance”

Kabir had a 9-day schedule with the team, which was entirely shot on a beach. “It was not easy to shoot in that heat. But it was worth it for being a part of such an incredibly creative film. In fact, I have been dubbed for my lines in the Malayalam original film. The team tried out voices that would match my screen presence and when they couldn’t find the right fit, they asked me if I could give it a try and I said okay, since I had learnt my lines during the shoot. The team then wanted me to dub for the Tamil and Kannada versions too, but I was pre-occupied with an earlier commitment and could not make that happen,” the actor says.
Kabir’s next in Malayalam is also a pan-India film, Marco, which has Unni Mukundan in the lead. The action thriller, which is a gangster tale with music by KGF-fame Ravi Basrur is set for release on November 28, 2024.
