AP Dhillon on Ticket Sales: Artists Should Prioritize Fans Over Marketing Gimmicks

AP Dhillon's conflict with Diljit Dosanjh has been attracting significant attention on social media. Recently, during an appearance on The Ranveer Show, AP discussed the controversy regarding the rapid sell-out of concerts in India, including those associated with Diljit's current Dil-Luminati Tour.

AP Dhillon's statements

A crisis may soon arise in India if the current situation continues, as stated by AP Dhillon. He expressed concern over artists treating their fans unfairly, noting that shows are reported to sell out in just 15 seconds, which he contests, asserting that nothing is genuinely sold out. He described this phenomenon as a marketing strategy, where promoters are given tickets, leaving fans to wait and purchase tickets at inflated prices.

Dhillon reflected on the dilemma faced by artists, questioning whether they should participate in such practices. He emphasized that it is unacceptable to deceive those who genuinely wish to attend shows. He challenged the notion of sold-out events, stating that if anyone needed 2,000 tickets, he could easily procure them, highlighting that the music industry is being treated like a game, which diminishes enjoyment.

He further remarked that the public will soon become aware of these issues. Labelling it a "dirty game," Dhillon argued that artists should not consider themselves superior to their fans, who deserve the opportunity to purchase tickets at fair prices. Although he refrained from naming specific artists, he suggested that those with greater prominence should refrain from engaging in such tactics, as it would not ultimately benefit them.

The conflict between AP and Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh's ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour in India has reportedly sold out in mere seconds. During a concert, Diljit stated that he is not responsible for this phenomenon, emphasizing that he has dedicated years to his music, which has rightfully earned him such enthusiastic support. The tour commenced in Gurgaon in October and is set to conclude in Guwahati this Sunday, December 29.

At a recent concert in Chandigarh, AP Dhillon addressed the audience, mentioning Diljit's acknowledgement of him. In a viral social media clip, he claimed that Diljit had blocked him on Instagram. This statement quickly spread online, leading fans and media to speculate about a possible disagreement between the two artists.

To clarify the situation, Diljit took to Instagram shortly after the concert. He shared a screenshot of AP Dhillon's account, stating, “I never blocked you. Mere pange sarkaaran naal ho sakde aa, kalaakaran naal nahi (My issues could be with governments, not with artists).” In response, Dhillon posted another video on his own Instagram, displaying the status of Diljit's account both prior to and following the alleged block. He captioned the video: “I wasn't going to say anything, knowing I'd get backlash anyway, but at least now we know what's real and what's not.”
