Veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar passed away due to complications related to his heart. Medical reports from the hospital indicate that the cause of death was decompensated liver cirrhosis. He was 87 years old at the time of his passing.

PM Modi announced the passing of Kumar via a Twitter post stating, "He was a legendary figure in Indian cinema, renowned for his patriotic fervor, which was evident in his films. Manoj Ji's contributions sparked a sense of national pride and will serve as an inspiration for future generations. My condolences go out to his family and fans during this time of sorrow. Om Shanti."

His film Gumnaam was pivotal in elevating him to stardom, as it became one of the highest-grossing films upon its release in 1965.

Manoj Kumar was given the birth name Harikrishnan Goswami. He was born in 1937 in Abbottabad, a small town located in the North-West Frontier Province of British India, which is now known as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

Initially known by the stage name Bharat Kumar, this esteemed actor received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015 in recognition of his significant contributions to Indian cinema. Additionally, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 1992.
