In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Tamil film icon Rajinikanth experienced a downturn in his career. Many believed that his popularity had diminished as a series of his films failed to perform well. However, in his 50s, the actor experienced a resurgence with the successful releases of Chandramukhi and Enthiran. The late 2010s, however, truly signified his remarkable comeback. His films not only excelled at the box office but also rivaled and surpassed major Bollywood productions. This resurgence enabled the seasoned actor to command higher fees, eventually outpacing younger stars in terms of earnings.

How Rajinikanth became India's highest-paid actor at 72

In 2023, at the age of 72, Rajinikanth featured in the film "Jailer," directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.
