The Academy Awards are scheduled to announce their nominations on Thursday, January 23, following a delay caused by the wildfires in Los Angeles. In contrast, the nominations for the 2025 Golden Raspberry Awards, which honour the year's most disappointing films and performances, have already been disclosed, ahead of the Oscars.

Now in its 45th year, the Razzies continue to draw attention to the less favourable aspects of cinema. This year's nominations feature unexpected entries, with Joker: Folie à Deux leading the pack with seven nominations. Released in 2024, the film received a lacklustre reception from audiences and was deemed a box office failure, earning $206 million globally against a production budget of $200 million. In comparison, the original Joker film grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

Following closely behind are Borderlands, Madame Web, Megalopolis, and Reagan, each receiving six nominations. Notable nominees in the Worst Actor and Actress categories include Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Lady Gaga, and Jon Voight.

The nominees were determined by emailed ballots distributed to 1,202 members of the Razzie organization, which comprises film enthusiasts, critics, and journalists from 49 states and approximately 20 foreign nations. These members selected the leading five candidates in each of the nine categories. The "winners" will be revealed through a video press release on March 1.
