As the 67th Grammy Awards approach, the Album of the Year category is heating up with some unexpected competition. Gold Derby, a top source for awards predictions, reports that it's anyone's game right now, with Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard and Soft and Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter both receiving four votes from their experts and editors. This is gearing up to be an exciting battle for one of the biggest accolades in music.
2025 Grammy Awards Predictions: Who's in the running for Album of the Year and more?
It looks like Taylor Swift, who’s usually a favorite at the Grammys, might be missing out on some awards this year. Her record-breaking concert film, The Eras Tour, didn’t make the cut for Best Music Film, even though it’s the highest-grossing music film ever. There’s also a chance she could miss out on Album of the Year for her latest release, The Tortured Poet’s Department, according to Daily Mail. Other award show experts seem to agree with this prediction for Swift’s new album.
Celebrity psychic and astrology expert Inbaal Honigman shared her thoughts, saying, “Taylor Swift isn’t likely to be a big winner in the major categories,” during an interview with Casino.org. She mentioned that the calm Four of Swords Tarot card suggests this awards show might not bring big wins for the talented artist.
On the other hand, Gold Derby’s experts are all in on Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso for Record of the Year. Billie Eilish's Birds of a Feather is the favorite for Song of the Year, and Chappell Roan is leading the pack for Best New Artist. These predictions are definitely ramping up the excitement as the big night approaches.
Beyoncé is leading the nominations with an impressive 11, including a shot at Album of the Year.
The Grammy Awards are happening while wildfires rage in LA
The Recording Academy has announced that the 67th Grammy Awards are set for Sunday, February 2, at the Crypto.com Arena in LA. This year, the event will also act as a fundraiser for fire relief efforts.
In a joint statement, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and board chair Tammy Hurt expressed their sympathy for those impacted by the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, saying, “Our hearts go out to everyone affected. This city is our home, and we grieve the loss of life and the destruction that has occurred.”
They added, “We’re working closely with local authorities to ensure safety and responsible resource use, and the Grammy Awards broadcast on CBS will go on as scheduled. However, this year’s event will have a special focus: raising funds for wildfire relief and honoring the courage of first responders who put their lives on the line for us. In tough times, music can heal, comfort, and bring us together like nothing else.”
The statement wrapped up with, “The Grammys will celebrate the talent and achievements of our music community while also highlighting the resilience that characterizes Los Angeles," as reported by Daily Mail.
