Delhi-based Manforce, a subsidiary of the prominent pharmaceutical company Mankind Pharma, positions itself as the leading and "largest condom brand in a sex-averse India." In a recent episode of the podcast Figuring Out With Raj Shamani, Rajeev Juneja from Mankind Pharma discussed an often-overlooked aspect of the condom market—specifically, the most and least popular flavors.

In south, they ‘like flowers’

In the southern regions, preferences lean towards floral scents. Rajeev noted that consumers from various parts of India exhibit distinct tastes. When asked about the top-selling and least-selling flavors, he indicated that 'chocolate and strawberry' were the most popular, while unflavored condoms naturally had the lowest sales. He also mentioned that the paan flavor, derived from betel leaves, ranked among the least favored.

He explained that despite its low sales, paan still maintains a significant market presence in areas like Uttar Pradesh in northern India. He stated, “Paan is a specific flavor that sells in certain regions, while jasmine is highly favored in the south. People there prefer floral scents.”

Condom sales ‘increase' during Navratri in Gujarat

Sales of condoms reportedly see an uptick during Navratri in Gujarat. When questioned about sales trends in eastern and western India, Rajeev remarked that consumers in those regions are quite cosmopolitan and open to various options. He further clarified that flavors such as kala khatta and sabudana are merely marketing gimmicks and have not been officially introduced to the market.

In response to the assertion that condom sales peak during Navratri in Gujarat, he affirmed, “Indeed, during Navratri, the garba festivities create a vibrant atmosphere, leading to increased sales.”

Insufficient access to sexual health information may hinder individuals from recognizing symptoms associated with sexually transmitted infections. This deficiency can also elevate the likelihood of acquiring infections, experiencing unintended pregnancies, and developing reproductive system diseases.
