Bhumi Pednekar was present at the trailer launch of her forthcoming Netflix special, The Royals, on Tuesday. For the event, the actress shone in a captivating all-white outfit, which evoked memories of the 90s and 2000s fashion showcased by beauty pageant winners such as Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta, among others.

Bhumi brings back the dupatta with a gown look

The dupatta with a gown look worn by Bhumi Pednekar during the trailer launch of The Royals has been donned by Indian beauty queens like Priyanka and Lara when they won the Miss World and Miss Universe, respectively, in 2000.

Seems Bhumi has borrowed a page from their book and mastered the elegant appearance. Well-known Instagram account Diet Sabya noticed the resemblance and stated, “Bhumi Jenner is reintroducing the dupatta with gown for the ladies…Not for everyone, please don’t attempt it. ” While a few Instagram users thought Bhumi’s look resembled Marilyn Monroe, others commented that it was akin to Lara and Priyanka, and even Rani Jeyraj at Miss World 1996.

The ivory silk gown that Bhumi wore exhibits a plunging neckline, a strapless design, a corseted bodice, a form-fitting silhouette that highlights her curves, a back slit facilitating movement, and a floor-length hem. She finished the outfit by draping a floor-length silk dupatta over her arms.

Bhumi complemented the ivory attire with pointed silk pumps, a choker necklace embellished with diamonds and highlighted with bird motifs, diamond rings on both hands, and diamond earrings. With her hair left down in a centre parting and styled in soft blowout waves, she opted for feathered brows, mauve pink lips, flushed cheeks, pink eye shadow, winged eyeliner, mascara-enhanced lashes, and a radiant highlighter.

The Royals includes stars such as Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Zeenat Aman, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, and Sakshi Tanwar. Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, it is set to launch on Netflix on May 9.
