Actor Abhishek Bachchan is frequently seen donning striking watches. During the promotion of his upcoming film in Mumbai on Wednesday, he showcased not one, but two luxury timepieces, which, unsurprisingly, attracted considerable attention on social media. Interestingly, this is not the first occasion on which Abhishek has opted to wear two watches on his wrists. According to a report from India TV News in 2011, there is a specific reason behind the actor's recurring choice.

In February 2025, Abhishek marked his birthday with a unique cake-cutting ceremony following an ISPL match between Majhi Mumbai and Falcon Risers Hyderabad, while his father, the esteemed actor Amitabh Bachchan, observed the festivities at the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Mumbai.

So why does Abhishek wear 2 watches on 2 wrists?

According to a 2011 report from India TV News, which cited the news agency PTI, the actor disclosed the reason behind the Bachchan family's practice of wearing two watches. He stated, “The custom of wearing two watches originated with my mother (Jaya Bachchan). While I was attending boarding school in Europe, she wore two watches to keep track of the time in both locations. Subsequently, my father adopted this practice to remain aware of both time zones. They would communicate with me based on the time in Europe. This is the primary reason for wearing two watches, although my father has also turned it into a fashion statement with the release of the upcoming film (Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap).”

Amitabh further mentioned, “Indeed, I used to wear two and occasionally even three watches in my daily life. I did this for amusement or when I sought a change, engaging in something entertaining like this.”
