Shraddha Kapoor Fav Recipe - Varan Bhaat

We all know that Shraddha Kapoor is a certified foodie. Whether it is street food like Pan Puri, Vadapav or snacks like Burgers she enjoys a wide range of dishes and loves sharing her food experiences on social media. Her love for Vada Pav made fans call her "Vada Pav girl". In a recent interview, Shraddha Kapoor shared her love for Varan Bhaat.
Let's decode how to make this delicious Marathi recipe at home!
Ingredients of the recipe:
- Dal ( 250 gm/ 2 cups)
- 2 cup water
- Desi Ghee
- Cumin seeds ( Jeera)
- Finely chopped garlic
- Finely chopped green chilly
- 1 chopped tomatoes
- Turmeric powder (half teaspoon)
- Jaggery
- Chopped coriander leaves
- Salt to taste
How to make Varan Bhaat ? The recipe is here!
1. Soak dal for 15-20 mins, wash and clean the Dal and cook in a pressure cooker adding 2 cups of water.
2. Cook on a high flame for 3 whistles and rest for 8-10 minutes.
3. Make sure the dal is cooked well and mash gently with a whisk to get a smooth consistency.
4. Adjust the salt and add more water if required. Keep it aside.
5. Put one fry pan and add a spoonful of Desi ghee, whole cumin/ Jeerah, chopped garlic, chopped green chilly, chopped tomatoes and a pinch of turmeric powder.
6. Saute well for 2-3 minutes on a high fame.
7. Make sure that the gravy is cooked well and pour the mashed dal into it.
8. Garnish with some chopped fresh coriander leaves.
9. Don't forget to add salt to your taste.
Serve it with Chappathis, Naan, Jeera rice or plain rice and enjoy!
