Xiaomi, the Chinese electronics manufacturer, has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, an electric SUV named YU7. This new model joins the brand's existing SU7 electric sedan, which has been presented multiple times in India and is currently available for purchase in the Chinese market. The SU7 was launched in March 2024 and has garnered a favourable reception from consumers. In response to the increasing demand for premium electric vehicles, Xiaomi is planning to introduce the YU7 in 2025.

The technology giant, which has expanded into the automotive sector, anticipates launching the Xiaomi YU7, its inaugural electric SUV, in June or July of next year. This move is part of its strategy to increase its market presence in China's competitive automotive landscape. Upon its release, the Xiaomi YU7 is expected to compete with the Tesla Model Y and other similar models.

Xiaomi has digitally unveiled the YU7 electric SUV by sharing its image alongside the SU7 model. The YU7 will be manufactured at the company's facility located in the Yizhuang district of Beijing. Recent homologation documents submitted to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) have confirmed the vehicle's final specifications and design.

The design of the Xiaomi YU7 SUV bears a strong resemblance to that of the Xiaomi SU7. Both electric vehicles feature a similar front profile, including matching LED headlights, a comparable nose section, and an identical bumper. Notably, the YU7 is equipped with a larger air intake than its sedan counterpart and has a higher bonnet. While the side profile of the YU7 is reminiscent of the SU7, the roofline presents a distinct variation. Additionally, the wheel design is unique to the electric SUV. At the rear, the YU7 showcases the same LED taillights as its sedan sibling.

Regarding specifications, Xiaomi has not disclosed extensive details about the power, torque, and battery specifications. However, it has been indicated that the forthcoming electric SUV will achieve a top speed of 253 km/h and will be powered by a battery pack sourced from CATL.
