The luxury automobile sector in India has experienced significant expansion. Numerous luxury car manufacturers have broadened their offerings in the country, with Volvo and Audi being the most recent additions. The Audi Q7, the flagship SUV from the German manufacturer, received an update last year, while the Swedish brand's premier SUV, the Volvo XC90, was recently refreshed.

Both the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 have been present in the Indian market for an extended period and have garnered considerable popularity among consumers. Although the recent updates to these SUVs did not introduce major changes, they incorporated the latest technology and features. Below is a comparison of these two three-row flagship SUVs.

Audi Q7 vs Volvo XC90: Design

The 2025 Volvo XC90 showcases a newly designed front grille characterized by diagonal slats and refined LED daytime running lights that maintain the iconic "Thor's Hammer" aesthetic. The front bumper has been updated to include larger air intakes, while both the front and rear LED taillights have received a modernized design.

Additionally, Volvo has introduced a new Mulberry Red color option, bringing the total palette to six distinct choices. The SUV features a standard ground clearance of 238 mm, which can be increased to 267 mm with the optional air suspension. Both the front and rear bumpers feature updated styling. The entry-level model comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, while the top-tier variant is available with wheels up to 22 inches.

The new Q7 is available in three fresh colors: Ascari Blue, Sakhir Gold, and Chili Red, enhancing customization options for potential buyers. A wider body typically offers improved shoulder room, while a higher roof facilitates easier entry and exit from the vehicle. The 2025 Audi Q7 is built on a wheelbase of 2,999 mm.

The refreshed Volvo XC90 showcases an enhanced interior while maintaining its original layout. It now features a new 11.2-inch vertically oriented infotainment display, replacing the former 9-inch version. The interior is adorned with materials such as a light-colored headliner, grey ash trim, a crystal gear shift crafted by Orrefors, and ventilated nappa leather seating. Additionally, Volvo has introduced Frequency Selective Damping technology to enhance ride comfort, along with improved sound insulation and increased storage solutions.

Similarly, the Audi cabin has undergone subtle modifications. While the overall layout remains consistent, various enhancements have been made to rejuvenate the interior. Notably, the infotainment system now accommodates third-party applications such as Amazon Music and Spotify. This system is complemented by a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio setup, providing passengers with an immersive sound experience. The package also includes electrically adjustable front seats, electronically folding third-row seats, and a powered tailgate equipped with a kick sensor.

The XC90 is now equipped with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder mild-hybrid engine that utilizes 'Miller cycle' technology. The B5 powertrain generates 246.5 bhp and delivers a peak torque of 360 Nm, coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel-drive system is enhanced by a 48-volt electric motor, designed to enhance fuel efficiency and ensure a more seamless driving experience.

Meanwhile, the Q7 facelift boasts a robust drivetrain featuring a 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged petrol engine that produces 335 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. This model also incorporates a mild-hybrid system, with the 48-volt setup contributing to improved fuel efficiency and smoother performance. Additionally, the Q7 is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, which is managed through an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Audi Q7 vs Volvo XC90: Price

Volvo has launched the newest iteration of its premier SUV, the XC90, in India, with an introductory price set at ₹1.03 crore. The XC90 will be available exclusively in one trim option, the B5 Ultra. In contrast, the Audi Q7 is available in three trim levels: Premium Plus, Bold Edition, and Technology, with prices commencing at ₹88.70 lakh and reaching up to ₹97.85 lakh for the highest Technology trim. All prices are ex-showroom.
