Volvo Auto India is preparing to launch the XC90 facelift in the country in March of this year. The updated Volvo XC90 made its global debut in September 2024, featuring a significant overhaul that includes essential enhancements to the brand's well-regarded SUV, encompassing both aesthetic modifications and upgraded features. This marks the XC90's second substantial facelift during its ten-year tenure, ensuring that Volvo's flagship model remains competitive within the luxury SUV segment.

Volvo XC90 Facelift: Cosmetic Changes

The refreshed XC90 will showcase a newly designed grille with diagonal slats, alongside updated T-shaped LED daytime running lights. The front bumper has been modified to include vertical air intakes, and the lower intake has been extended outward. The side profile remains largely unchanged, apart from the introduction of new alloy wheels, while the rear features redesigned LED taillights.

Inside, the vehicle boasts a larger 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an updated user interface. The interior incorporates recycled materials, maintaining a layout similar to the previous model, but with the enhanced touchscreen replacing the former 9-inch display. This new vertically oriented screen includes buttons for climate control and offers a 21 percent increase in pixel density. Additional modifications include new shortcuts for applications and controls on the home screen. The XC90 will continue to be available as a seven-seater, and to enhance passenger comfort, Volvo will implement Frequency Selective Damping technology in the updated model, improving ride quality along with enhanced sound insulation and increased storage compartments.

Volvo XC90 Facelift: Specifications

The facelifted Volvo XC90 will be equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, complemented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. On a global scale, the SUV is also available in a plug-in hybrid variant featuring an 18.8 kWh battery pack, which offers an electric-only driving range of 69 kilometers.

The updated Volvo XC90 facelift is anticipated to debut by early March, positioning itself against various competitors such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Lexus RX 350h, among others. Currently, the XC90 is priced at ₹1.01 crore (ex-showroom), and it is expected that the refreshed model will come with a slight increase in price.
