The Volvo XC90 has officially made its debut in India, with a starting price of ₹1.03 crore (ex-showroom introductory). This launch follows a year after its introduction in international markets. The SUV showcases a comprehensive redesign of both its exterior and interior features. Additionally, the newly introduced model incorporates technological advancements and is equipped with a new 2.0-litre ‘Miller engine’.
In the Indian market, the Volvo XC90 will be available exclusively in a seven-seater configuration. This newly launched SUV is set to compete against notable rivals such as the BMW X5, Lexus UX 350h, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Land Rover Range Rover Velar, and Audi Q7.
2025 Volvo XC90: Exterior
The latest updates to the XC90 feature a revamped front grille characterized by diagonal slats. The LED daytime running lights maintain their signature Thor hammer design, albeit with slight modifications, while the front bumper has been enhanced with additional air vents. The facelifted XC90 also introduces new alloy wheel designs and a refreshed appearance for the LED taillights. The new model is available in six color options, including a newly introduced shade named Mulberry Red.
2025 Volvo XC90: Interior
The cabin has been enhanced with a new 11.2-inch infotainment display, replacing the previous nine-inch model. This display is positioned vertically between the air conditioning vents and above the HVAC controls. Volvo has also elevated the ride quality of the XC90 by incorporating Frequency Selective Damping technology, along with improved sound insulation and additional storage solutions.
The interior showcases a blond headlining, grey ash trim, a charcoal tailored steering wheel, a crystal gear shift crafted by Orrefors, customized dashboard and door top panels, ventilated nappa leather seating, exclusive textile floor mats, and illuminated sill moldings.
2025 Volvo XC90: Engine and Specifications
In India, the Volvo XC90 is equipped with a new mild hybrid ‘Miller engine’. This B5 engine powers all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive system, with power delivered via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain consists of a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that generates 246.5 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque, complemented by a 48-volt electric motor.
The vehicle offers a ground clearance of 238 mm with standard suspension and 267 mm with air suspension. Its height is 1,773 mm, and its width is 1,931 mm. The SUV measures 4,953 mm in length, 2,140 mm in width (including side mirrors), and has a wheelbase of 2,984 mm.

The SUV is equipped with an array of driver assistance technologies, including Pilot Assist, a Ready to Drive notification, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake capabilities. It also incorporates various Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) functions such as Lane Keeping Aid, Oncoming Road Mitigation, Run-off Mitigation, Rear Collision Warning and Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Oncoming Mitigation through Braking, and Collision Avoidance Mitigation.
In addition, the vehicle boasts a comprehensive suite of safety features, which includes a passenger airbag cut-off switch, dual-stage airbags, a driver-side knee airbag, a power child safety lock, an emergency brake light, laminated side and rear windows, whiplash injury protection, inflatable curtain side impact protection, and ISOFIX mounting points.
