Volkswagen Tera is a forthcoming sub-compact SUV expected to debut in India soon. The German automotive manufacturer has initiated official road testing for this upcoming sub-four-metre SUV. Once introduced, it will face competition from models such as the Skoda Kylaq, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet. Scheduled for confirmation in 2024, the Volkswagen Tera is anticipated to be launched later this year.

Volkswagen Tera: Design

A prototype of the Volkswagen Tera has been observed undergoing road tests, completely unmasked. This unveiling has allowed for the observation of various design features, such as a single-slat radiator grille, streamlined headlamps, and a robust bumper.

In terms of its side profile, the Volkswagen Tera showcases a black finish on the alloy wheels, B-pillars, outside rearview mirrors, and roof rails, along with plastic cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, the SUV is equipped with wraparound taillights, an LED light bar on the tailgate, an integrated spoiler, a rear wiper and washer, a registration plate holder on the rear bumper, and a decorative skid plate.

Volkswagen Tera: Interior and features

The interior of the Volkswagen Tera features an expansive touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional amenities include rear air conditioning vents, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with six airbags and paddle shifters, among other features.

Volkswagen Tera: Powertrain

Powering the Volkswagen Tera SUV is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine. Mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, the 1.0-litre petrol engine is capable of churning out 114 bhp peak power and 178 Nm of maximum torque. Besides the manual gearbox, the Volkswagen Tera will be available with a torque converter automatic transmission as well.
