VinFast, the Vietnamese automotive manufacturer, has officially made its entry into the Indian market. During its launch, the company presented the VinFast VF 6 and VinFast VF 7 as its inaugural offerings, alongside several other models, with the VinFast VF 3 being particularly noteworthy. This electric micro SUV was displayed at the VinFast pavilion during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo Auto Expo 2025, suggesting a possible future launch in India.

Currently, details regarding the VinFast VF 3 remain limited; however, it is anticipated to serve as the entry-level model within the company's passenger vehicle range, making it the most economical option available in India. The VinFast VF 3 is a compact two-door, four-seater vehicle, with dimensions of 3190 mm in length, 1679 mm in width, and 1622 mm in height, and a wheelbase measuring 2075 mm.

The VinFast VF 3 measures 216 mm longer, 174 mm wider, and 18 mm shorter than the MG Comet EV. Despite its compact size, VinFast categorizes it as a "mini SUV." To illustrate its dimensions further, the VF 3 surpasses the MG Comet EV, which is recognized as the smallest electric vehicle in India, by 216 mm in length and 174 mm in width, while being 18 mm shorter. It features a ground clearance of 191 mm and offers an option for 16-inch alloy wheels.

Equipped with a rear-mounted electric motor, the vehicle generates 43.5 hp and 110 Nm of torque. It is officially capable of accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h in 5.3 seconds. This powertrain is paired with an 18.64 kWh lithium-ion battery, providing an estimated range of up to 210 km on a single charge, according to the NEDC cycle. The battery can be charged from 10 percent to 70 percent in just 36 minutes using a DC charger, making it a practical option for urban driving.

In terms of features, the VF 3 includes a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a two-spoke steering wheel. Notably, the cabin lacks a dedicated instrument cluster, with driving information displayed on the infotainment screen instead.

VinFast: Other key models for India

The VinFast pavilion at the expo also showcased other models such as the VF e34, VF 8, VF 9, VF Wild pickup concept and a range of electric scooters. The company confirmed that the VinFast VF 6 and the VF 7 will be launched in the country in the second half of 2025 and currently it is appointing dealers across the country.
