The Indian electric motorcycle manufacturer, Ultraviolette (UV), has announced its intention to diversify into various other segments of two-wheelers. The company disclosed that within the next two years, it plans to introduce a range of electric two-wheeler models as part of its 'Strategic Product Expansion plan.'
This initiative aims to emphasize design, performance, and cutting-edge technology, thereby launching a new array of products. UV has indicated that it intends to utilize its comprehensive Research and Development capabilities to establish a strong pipeline for future products.
The multi-segment strategy is designed to enhance the accessibility of advanced electric vehicle technology while preserving the brand's signature of innovative design and superior engineering. Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-Founder of Ultraviolette, articulated that the company's commitment to research and development has been crucial in creating technology for vertical integration across essential systems, including battery technology, powertrains, and safety systems. This strategy has established a solid foundation that will facilitate the company's rapid expansion into multiple two-wheeler segments.
Ultraviolette: Upcoming bike
Last year, Ultraviolette submitted a new design patent for an electric motorcycle inspired by the Concept X. The new motorcycle will share its foundational elements with the F77, featuring the same frame supported by upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
Both ends will be equipped with disc brakes and a dual-channel anti-lock braking system. The battery pack will remain fixed in the position typically occupied by the engine in a conventional internal combustion engine motorcycle. While the exact wheel sizes are yet to be confirmed, they are expected to be 17-inch units, reflecting the design language seen in the F77, and will be fitted with tubeless tires.
Ultraviolette: Current range of products
The Ultraviolette F77 marks the inaugural offering from the motorcycle manufacturer, having been introduced in 2023. Presently, the company offers two variants of the F77: the Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet and the F77 Mach 2. The Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet was launched at an introductory price of ₹2.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 starts at ₹2.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the standard version, with the Recon trim priced at ₹3.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Both the Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet and the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 utilize the same battery packs, albeit with minor variations in range and performance. The Ultraviolette F77 SuperStreet is equipped with a 7.1 kWh battery pack, providing a range of 211 km on a full charge.
This model's electric powertrain generates a peak power of 35.70 bhp and a maximum torque of 90 Nm, enabling it to achieve a top speed of 155 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds. The Recon variant, which has yet to be launched, features a 10.3 kWh battery and offers a range of 323 km on a single charge, along with a motor that produces 39.65 bhp and 100 Nm of torque. This variant is expected to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.7 seconds.
In a similar vein, the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is also available in two variants: Standard and Recon. These variants are equipped with the same 7.1 kWh and 10.3 kWh battery packs, respectively. However, the Standard variant of the F77 Mach 2 delivers 36.19 bhp and 90 Nm of torque, while the Recon variant enhances the power output to 39.65 bhp and 100 Nm of torque, matching the performance specifications of the SuperStreet Recon, with a top speed of 155 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds.
