Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away at the AIIMS Hospital in Delhi late Thursday night at the age of 92. His last rites are scheduled for Saturday, and the central government has announced a seven-day mourning period. Additionally, traffic advisories have been issued for motorists in the national capital for both Friday and Saturday.

The remains of Manmohan Singh have been transported from AIIMS to his residence on Motilal Nehru Road, where security measures have been intensified. A significant number of VIPs and VVIPs are expected to pay their final respects to the esteemed leader, prompting motorists to avoid routes leading to the central Delhi area.

According to a report from Hindustan Times, security and traffic management have been enhanced, with a substantial presence of law enforcement on Moti Lal Nehru Marg.

Moreover, early morning rainfall in the National Capital Region (NCR) may affect traffic conditions in Delhi, as the India Meteorological Department has forecasted continued showers throughout the afternoon. Motorists are therefore encouraged to verify the latest traffic updates for their intended routes, as busy intersections may experience disruptions.

Delhi pollution levels

The rainfall in Delhi on Friday morning has resulted in a reduction of the Air Quality Index (AQI) to approximately 350, with strong indications that pollution levels are likely to decrease further throughout the day. The Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) 4 had previously been suspended in the city, and GRAP 3, which is currently in effect, may also be lifted if the air quality continues to improve.

At this time, however, GRAP 3 remains active, which prohibits the operation of all non-essential diesel vehicles that meet BS 4 or older standards within Delhi. Additionally, non-electric, non-CNG, and non-BS 6 interstate buses are also barred from operating in the area.

Motorists are therefore encouraged to adhere to the regulations set forth by GRAP.
