2 months ago | 5 Views
Toyota Motor has unveiled a concept version of the Innova MPV at the Indonesia International Motor Show in Jakarta. This model represents the first Innova equipped with an electric powertrain. The Innova EV presented at the event is derived from the Kiang Innova, which is marketed in Southeast Asian regions. The Japanese automotive manufacturer has indicated that this concept version of the Innova EV is not intended for production or sale in the near future.
The Innova is among Toyota's most favored models in Asian markets, often marketed under various names. In India, the company offers two iterations of the MPV. The Innova HyCross serves as the strong hybrid variant of the well-known seven-seater internal combustion engine model, the Innova Crysta. The Innova EV concept introduced in Indonesia is designed to promote the advancement of electric vehicles within the nation.
Toyota Innova EV: What it offers
The concept version of the Toyota Innova electric MPV is equipped with a 59.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which supports both AC and DC charging options. While Toyota has not disclosed specific information regarding the potential range of the Innova EV, it has shared details about its power output. The vehicle is expected to produce approximately 180 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. A representative from Toyota was quoted in the local news outlet Jurnal News, stating, “Currently, the Kijang Innova BEV is in the long-term trial phase, so it is natural to see it at exhibitions, highways, and even intercity trips."
Toyota Innova EV: Design, features revealed
Upon initial observation, the Innova EV presents itself as a refreshed iteration of the currently available Innova Crysta MPV. Several design modifications have been made to the model offered in India. The most prominent alteration is at the front, where the MPV features a closed grille accompanied by LED daytime running lights and headlight assemblies. Additionally, the Innova is adorned with BEV badging at both the front and rear to highlight its electric nature. The vehicle is equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents on the door handles, body cladding, and a blacked-out roof. At the rear, the Innova EV showcases LED taillights along with a connected LED light strip. Notably, the Innova EV concept does not include a front trunk.
The interior of the Innova EV concept bears a close resemblance to the models currently available for purchase. A significant feature within the cabin is the flat floor design, which accommodates the battery beneath, thereby providing additional space for rear passengers. The Innova EV is also equipped with amenities such as captain's chairs in the middle row, wireless charging capabilities, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a sizable touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display, dual-tone upholstery, and ambient lighting, among other features.
