Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has released its sales figures for February 2025, reporting a total of 28,414 units sold, which includes both domestic and export volumes. This marks a 13 percent increase compared to the 25,220 units sold in February of the previous year. Domestic sales accounted for 26,414 units, reflecting a growth of 13.36 percent from 23,300 units during the same month last year. Exports also saw an increase of 4.17 percent, rising to 2,000 units from 1,920 units in February 2024.
Utility Vehicles Drive Toyota's Sales In February
Utility vehicles have been pivotal in driving Toyota's sales for the month. The company highlighted that its utility vehicle range, including the Toyota Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Fortuner, Legender, Hilux, and Rumion, constituted 68 percent of total sales in February. The remaining 28 percent was contributed by the brand's smaller models, namely the Toyota Glanza and UC Taisor.
In terms of year-to-date performance, Toyota recorded sales of 306,105 units from April 2024 to February 2025 (FY2025), which represents a 30 percent increase compared to the 236,332 units sold during the same timeframe in FY2024.
Varinder Wadhwa, Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at TKM, commented on the robust performance, stating, “We express our gratitude to our customers for their steadfast trust in the Toyota brand. MPVs and SUVs remain the key growth drivers, contributing 68% to our overall sales. The strong demand for models such as the Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Hilux, Fortuner, Legender, and Rumion underscores the increasing preference for dependable and high-quality products.”
He further noted, “In response to market demands, we have recently resumed bookings for the Land Cruiser 300. Additionally, we have launched the new GR-S grade under the GR Sport branding, which features an off-road-tuned suspension, differential locks, and improved shock absorbers to deliver exceptional performance in challenging conditions. The market response has been encouraging, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm shown.”
Multiple new launches in the last few months
Toyota has consistently rolled out several new models over the past few months. In December, the company unveiled the latest generation of the Camry sedan, and in February, it commenced bookings for the Land Cruiser 300, which includes the newly introduced GR-S variant. Additionally, at the 2025 Auto Expo, the automaker presented the Urban Cruiser EV concept, suggesting that this model will be launched in the Indian market in the future. The Urban Cruiser EV is essentially a badge-engineered version of the forthcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, which is expected to debut later this month.
