Toyota is poised to introduce the ninth generation of the Camry in the Indian market. The Japanese automaker has unveiled a new teaser showcasing the design of the headlamps and tail lamps of this premium sedan. The launch is scheduled for December 11, positioning the Camry to compete with the Skoda Superb and the BYD Seal EV.

The Toyota Camry has been available in India for 11 years, with the latest generation having made its global debut last year. The new model will be imported to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit. The current iteration of the Camry is priced at ₹46.17 lakh ex-showroom, while the upcoming model is anticipated to be priced around ₹50 lakh.

9th gen Toyota Camry: What's changed?

The upcoming Toyota Camry represents a significant advancement over the current model available in India. It features a broader front grille and more angular headlights, distinguishing it from its predecessor, while the rear design draws inspiration from Lexus styling. The sleek headlights incorporate integrated LED daytime running lights, and the prominent radiator grille contributes to its striking visual presence.

In addition to the exterior enhancements, the interior has undergone substantial improvements. The cabin is now equipped with a dual-digital display, and the centre console has been refined. Notable features of the sedan include individual climate control for rear passengers, seat-back screens, Type-C USB charging ports, window curtains, and a JBL audio system. The spacious interior, enhanced by the vehicle's extended wheelbase, ensures a comfortable experience for all occupants.

9th gen Toyota Camry: Specs

The most recent version of the Toyota Camry sedan is equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing a peak power of 222 bhp. This power is transmitted to the front wheels through an eCVT transmission. While the global variant of the Toyota Camry sedan features a front-wheel-drive configuration, it is unlikely that this setup will be available in the Indian market. The current model of the Toyota Camry in India boasts a fuel efficiency of 19 kmpl, and it is anticipated that this figure will improve in the next generation.
