French car manufacturer Renault may have ceased production of the Duster in India, yet the company is considering the possibility of reintroducing it. In recent months, the new generation Renault Duster has garnered significant attention. The third-generation Renault Duster SUV has now been officially launched in South Africa, with a starting price of 489,999 Rand, equivalent to approximately ₹23.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
It is anticipated that Renault will introduce the new generation Duster to the Indian market sometime next year. Upon its release, the new Renault Duster is expected to be pivotal for the future of Renault India.
Third-generation Renault Duster: What it offers
The third-generation Renault Duster features a completely revamped design compared to its predecessor available in the Indian market. This new SUV showcases a robust appearance with fresh design elements and entirely redesigned interiors. Additionally, it offers three distinct powertrain options in the South African market.
The South African version of the Renault Duster serves as a preview of what will be available in India. While it maintains the same overall silhouette as the earlier model, it boasts a completely new front profile, updated alloy wheels, and a redesigned full LED lighting system at both the front and rear.
The interior of the SUV has also undergone a significant redesign, incorporating various standard Renault styling features. The model for the South African market includes dual digital displays that integrate a touchscreen infotainment system with the instrument cluster. Other enhancements include redesigned air conditioning vents with climate control, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, power-adjustable front seats, Type-C USB charging ports, power windows, and power mirrors. A notable upgrade is the inclusion of Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). For the Indian market version of the Renault Duster, it is anticipated that the manufacturer will introduce features such as a sunroof, connected car technologies, and ambient lighting.
In terms of powertrains, the third-generation Renault Duster offers three engine options. These include a 1.2-litre mild-hybrid turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Notably, the previous Duster sold in India until 2021 also featured the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine. Renault is expected to provide both of these engine options in India, along with transmission choices that include manual and automatic gearboxes.
