BMW Motorrad has unveiled the new R 1300 R, featuring its robust boxer engine in a streetfighter design. This model serves as the successor to the R 1250 R, showcasing enhanced sportiness in both aesthetics and performance compared to its predecessor. It is the third motorcycle from BMW utilizing the 1300 cc engine, which also powers the R 1300 GS and R 1300 GS Adventure.

Specifications of the BMW R 1300 R

The 2025 BMW R 1300 R is equipped with a 1,300 cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 145 bhp at 7,750 rpm and delivers a peak torque of 149 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It features a 6-speed transmission with a standard quickshifter, and an Automated Shift Assist system is available as an optional upgrade. The motorcycle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.39 seconds.

The BMW R 1300 R gets a new steel mainframe and an aluminium subframe

The BMW R 1300 R features a newly designed steel mainframe complemented by an aluminum subframe. Its suspension system includes 47 mm upside-down forks and an electronically adjustable Paralever EVO monoshock, which allows for modifications in preload and damping. An optional Dynamic Suspension Adjustment package is available, enabling electronic adjustments to the front suspension. BMW claims that the R 1300 R is the first mass-produced motorcycle to incorporate an inverted fork with an adjustable spring rate. The braking system consists of dual 320 mm front discs and a single 285 mm rear disc, equipped with Integral Pro ABS for enhanced safety.

According to BMW, the R 1300 R is built on a completely new mainframe that provides greater rigidity compared to its predecessor. The aluminum subframe contributes to a more compact design and reduced overall weight. The motorcycle is fitted with 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels featuring a hollow-spoke design, which helps to reduce weight by 1.4 kg. The unladen weight of the bike is 239 kg.

The new BMW R 1300 R is expected to enter the Indian market later this year or in 2026, arriving as a fully imported model.

Features of the BMW R 1300 R include all-LED lighting, a TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, and three riding modes: Eco, Road, and Rain. Additionally, the streetfighter is equipped with standard features such as engine braking control, cornering traction control, and cornering ABS. An optional package offers advanced features like DTC-Shift functionality, radar-assisted Active Cruise Control, and Front Collision Warning.

BMW Motorrad has launched the R 1300 R in the United States and plans to introduce it to other markets in the upcoming months, with an anticipated launch in India later this year as a fully imported model. While the R 1300 R is designed for torque-friendly street performance, BMW also offers the S 1000 R, which caters to those seeking a sportier option with a focus on high-end performance.
