If you are considering the purchase of the Thar Roxx, Scorpio-N, or XUV700 SUVs from Mahindra, December may be the optimal time to proceed. India's leading SUV manufacturer has announced an impending price increase for its entire vehicle lineup, effective from January of the upcoming year. Mahindra has joined several other prominent automotive manufacturers in the country in declaring this price adjustment in recent days. Notably, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor, and JSW MG Motor have also indicated that they will raise prices for their vehicles starting January 1, 2025.
On Friday, Mahindra released a statement confirming the price increase across its range of vehicles. The company offers a variety of SUVs, including the Thar, XUV 3XO, Bolero, Bolero Neo, and the only electric SUV, the XUV400 EV, in addition to its flagship models, the XUV700, Scorpio-N, and Thar Roxx. Mahindra has indicated that the price of its models will rise by as much as three percent, although it has not specified which SUVs will experience the highest increases.
The rationale provided by Mahindra for this price adjustment aligns with that of other manufacturers, citing escalating input costs driven by inflation and the rising prices of automotive components as factors necessitating the transfer of some costs to consumers.
Mahindra SUV sales in India
Scorpio-N, XUV700, and Thar Roxx represent some of the most popular SUVs produced by Mahindra. In November, the manufacturer recorded sales exceeding 46,000 SUVs, reflecting a growth rate of approximately 16 percent. Mahindra currently ranks among the top four automotive manufacturers in India. In October, the company reached a milestone by achieving its highest monthly sales to date, totaling 54,504 SUVs.
Upcoming Mahindra electric vehicles
Mahindra is preparing to broaden its electric vehicle lineup in the coming year. In November, the SUV manufacturer introduced two new electric SUVs: the XEV 9e and the BE 6e. These upcoming electric SUVs are the inaugural models built on Mahindra's dedicated electric vehicle platform, INGLO. The XEV 9e has been launched with an introductory starting price of ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the smaller BE 6e electric SUV will be available at a starting price of ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). The company has announced that the booking window will open in February, with deliveries of these models anticipated to commence by March of the following year.
