Thar Roxx Diesel Variants Experience Price Surge

Mahindra has raised the price of the Thar Roxx SUV by as much as ₹60,000. This marks the first price increase for the five-door off-road SUV since its launch on August 14 of the previous year. The adjustment in pricing affects select diesel variants of the Thar Roxx. While the entry-level models remain at their original prices, certain high-end variants have seen price increases ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹60,000. This price adjustment follows Mahindra's announcement in December of the previous year regarding a potential price increase of up to three per cent for its models starting in January.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is the five-door variant of the well-known Thar SUV. It features two-row seating, generous boot space, a modern design, and numerous features aimed at appealing to lifestyle vehicle enthusiasts. The SUV competes with models such as the Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha, as well as others like the Jeep Meridian.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Variants with price hike

The recent price increase has resulted in a higher cost for the top-end variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx. The base price of the SUV continues to be ₹12.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the AX7 L automatic 4X4 variant is now priced at ₹23.09 lakh (ex-showroom), up from its initial launch price of ₹22.49 lakh. Additionally, the manual version of the AX7 L 4X4 has seen a price rise of ₹60,000, bringing its cost to ₹21.59 lakh (ex-showroom), compared to the previous price of ₹20.99 lakh.

The AX7 L manual and automatic variants lacking 4X4 capability have also experienced a price increase of ₹50,000, marking the second-largest hike among all Thar Roxx variants. The manual variant is now priced at ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the automatic variant will be available for ₹20.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Other variants that have undergone price adjustments include the AX5 L automatic 4X4 and the MX5 manual 4X4. The AX5 L automatic 4X4 has seen a price increase of ₹10,000, resulting in a new price of ₹21.09 lakh (ex-showroom), while the MX5 manual 4X4 will now cost ₹19.09 lakh following a ₹30,000 hike. Prices for other variants, including those equipped with petrol engines, remain unchanged.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine, features and other details

The Mahindra Thar Roxx SUV is available with two powertrain options: a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. Both powertrains are paired with a choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The petrol variant produces 174 bhp and delivers a peak torque of 380 Nm, while the diesel variant generates 172 bhp and offers a peak torque of 370 Nm.

In terms of safety, the Thar Roxx stands out as the safest SUV in its segment, having received a five-star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) last year. Standard safety features include six airbags, three-point seatbelts for all occupants, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and a Seatbelt Reminder (SBR). Additionally, the higher-end variants are equipped with level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a 360-degree camera, among other features.

The Thar Roxx SUV is also packed with numerous amenities, such as a panoramic sunroof, dual 10.25-inch touchscreens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, AdrenoX connectivity, a Harman Kardon audio system, powered and ventilated front seats, and rear air conditioning vents, among others.
